Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 2026

1. Who we are

Avano (“we”, “us”) is a business-management platform operated by Avant Grobel. We provide point-of-sale, inventory, and finance tools to businesses in Nigeria. This policy explains how we handle personal data when you use the platform.

2. The data we collect

We collect: (a) account data you provide at signup: your name, business name, email, and password (stored only as a secure hash, never in plain text); (b) operational data you enter while using the platform, such as products, sales, staff records, and customer details you choose to record; and (c) technical data, meaning log information needed to operate and secure the service. We use a small number of strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in securely; we do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

3. How we use it

We use your data only to provide and improve the service: to run your account, process your subscription, keep your records, secure the platform, and provide support. We do not sell your data, and we do not use your business’s operational data for advertising.

4. Tenant isolation

Each business’s data is isolated at the database level. Your records are not visible to other businesses on the platform, and access within your own account is governed by the roles and permissions you configure.

5. Payment data

Subscription payments are processed by our payment partners (Paystack and Flutterwave). Your card details are handled by them under their own security standards; we do not store card numbers on our systems.

6. Where your data is stored

Your data is hosted on secure cloud infrastructure provided by Amazon Web Services in the European Union (Ireland), with encrypted connections and encrypted storage. Because this involves transferring personal data outside Nigeria, we apply appropriate safeguards consistent with the Nigeria Data Protection Act, including contractual protections with our hosting provider and the security measures described in this policy.

7. Your rights under the NDPA

Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act, you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to correct it, to request its deletion, and to object to certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us using the details below. You may also lodge a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC).

8. Data retention & deletion

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you close your account, we will delete or anonymise your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain certain records by law.

9. Security

We protect your data with database-level isolation, hashed passwords, encrypted connections, and access controls. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures appropriate to the sensitivity of the data.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the platform evolves or as the law requires. We will post the updated version here and revise the date above.
